STUDIO GRANTS BY GARNIER
Helping creators feel at home in their space, so they can create without compromise.
What is a Studio Grant by Garnier?
Studio Grants by Garnier will provide eight awards for women producers, engineers, songwriters, and creators to build and redesign studio environments that reflect their artistry.
We Are Moving The Needle and Garnier are teaming up to launch the Studio Grants by Garnier: a first-of-its-kind initiative that amplifies women creators with targeted funding to develop their studios and deepen their craft.
Studio Grants by Garnier will provide eight awards for women producers, engineers, songwriters, and creators to build and redesign studio environments that reflect their artistry. In an industry where women are often encouraged to neutralize their presence in the studio, this program invests in spaces rooted in individuality and creative freedom. When creators feel at home in their space, they create without compromise. Eight recipients will receive $5,000 to support a studio enhancement project that combines professional studio upgrades with wellness-focused improvements designed to create a healthier, more inspiring, and sustainable creative environment.
Whether upgrading an existing studio, renovating a production space, or completing a studio currently under development, applicants should be able to articulate a clear vision for their project and demonstrate how the proposed improvements will strengthen both their creative practice and overall well-being.
Applications close July 12, 2026
Eligibility requirements:
Audio engineers, producers, songwriters, or similar music creators with 5+ years of experience at a professional level in the music industry.
Must have an existing studio space that you are able to make modifications to or be in the process of building or developing one—grants may not be used as seed funding for brand new projects.
Professional-level home studios and commercial studios are invited to apply. Applicant must be the studio owner or sole proprietor of the studio space.
Demonstrated need for studio improvements that will enhance creative workflow, productivity, and long-term career sustainability.
These grants are designed to go beyond gear! Applicants must include a meaningful wellness-focused component or similar element(s) related to enhancing their craft as part of the project, such as improved ergonomics, dedicated meditation or decompression space, enhanced lighting, incorporation of greenery, accessibility improvements, or other upgrades that support their holistic creative development.
Grant funds may be used for:
Acoustic treatment, furniture, lighting, and workspace improvements.
Renovations or infrastructure enhancements that improve the functionality of the studio.
Wellness-focused additions that create a healthier and more inspiring creative environment.
Studio equipment and technology upgrades.
Other expenses directly related to the proposed studio enhancement project.
Grant recipients will be selected based on the strength of their proposal, the potential impact of the project on their creative work, and the thoughtful integration of wellness into the studio environment.

The Studio Grants by Garnier applications are reviewed by We Are Moving The Needle’s scholarship committee, which is composed of leaders across the industry (from both the creative and business side) and mentors. Applications are evaluated using a qualitative and quantitative rubric that assess candidates’ preparation for success in their particular program, their articulation of career goals and commitment to production and engineering, and how this scholarship will meaningfully impact their stated goals.
-
Successful applications vary program to program depending on the scholarship or grant call in question, however the following considerations might be considered to strengthen your overall application package:
Thorough and thoughtful written responses. Successful candidates make the fullest use of the suggested word counts, provide clear and compelling answers, and demonstrate an overall thoughtfulness to the written components of the application as well as the portfolio and supplemental materials.
Clear articulation of goals that include growing skills and leadership behind the board. We Are Moving The Needle drives equity for producers, engineers, and those working in technical roles in the recording industry. Many successful alumni are multi-faceted creators and also work as songwriters and artists, but they maintain a commitment to learning, growing, and leading behind the board as well as in front.
Clear understanding of the scholarship or grant program and why you believe it will help you further your goals. Successful candidates have clearly read and researched the grant details in full and are able to share a clear understanding of why this particular opportunity is important to this phase of their creative journey. Strong candidates demonstrate a clear need for funding and how this will meaningfully shape their journey within the context of their given program or goals.
A comprehensive portfolio that clearly highlights skills behind the board. Applicants are always evaluated in accordance with the skills required for the relevant program: for an engineering masterclass, successful candidates have clear strengths and skills required as an engineer at the appropriate level for that course, for a songwriting camp they must have acumen as a songwriter, etc. Entry-level programs are tiered towards entry-level applicants. A strong portfolio tells the candidate’s story as a creator: highlighting strengths, goals, and even areas of growth as they align with the program in question.
