FIX THE MIX CAREER WORKSHOPS

Join We Are Moving The Needle for an in-depth conversation about the business side of music production with soundBoard member Lysee Webb, founder of Van Pelt Management, and her client, GRAMMY-nominated producer & engineer Phillip Weinrobe (Adrianne Lenker, Alanis Morisette, Billie Marten). From tracking budgets and managing finances to negotiating with A&R teams and setting fair rates, this session will dive deep into the often-overlooked mechanics that keep creative projects running smoothly. Lysee and Phil will share how they collaborate as manager and engineer, diving into how they assign value to creative work, maintain transparency, and advocate for proper credit. Whether you’re just starting out or an established creator in the industry, you'll leave with practical tools, real-world insight, and strategies to help you build a business that thrives behind the scenes.

Philip Weinrobe is a Grammy-nominated producer, mixer, and recording engineer based in New York. As the owner of Sugar Mountain studio, he is celebrated for his organic production style, which often forgoes many of the modern recording processes to capture raw and immediate performances.

His distinctive approach has attracted a diverse range of acclaimed artists, including Adrianne Lenker of Big Thief, singer-songwriter Billie Marten, and Lonnie Holley. In addition to his extensive discography, Weinrobe is an active educator, sharing his unique recording techniques through workshops with School of Song. His work is recognized for its warm, intimate feel and significant influence on the contemporary indie and folk music scenes.
