Fresh off a Grammy nomination for her work with The Knocks and Dragonette, Ali Willa Milner found herself part of six Juno nominations and was nominated for Billboard Canada's Non-Performing Songwriter Of The Year for her work 2024. She was also nominated for the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame's Breakthrough Songwriter Award in 2024. Her songwriting led to the aforementioned Juno nominations with Reve, Katie Tupper, and multiple nominations for Aysanabee who won two; including Songwriter Of The Year. Her original songs were also featured in national and international advertising campaigns for Kia, Tinder, TSN, and more and her most recent single was selected as a feature track in Apple+’s Eva Longoria-led Land Of Women. Ali also has a focus on mentoring upcoming songwriters and co-hosted a song camp with SNGL and SheWrites; an organization focused on connecting and championing female, non-binary, and trans songwriters and producers.

Hosted by We Are Moving The Needle, the Fix The Mix Student Summit is the premier gathering for audio students. Join us for exclusive opportunities to connect with music industry professionals, network with mentors in your field, build new relationships with peers and collaborators, and learn new skills from expert ears! 

Are you a future leader in audio? This free half-day virtual conference is your opportunity to take control of your education! Gather with fellow students from across the country to learn from the best, and grow your network. The heart of this year’s program are small group mentorship sessions with influential women from across the industry, offering meaningful opportunities to connect with leaders as they discuss building their careers, tackling gender bias, imposter syndrome, and defining their personal brands. We Are Moving The Needle’s experienced mentors—successful artists, producers, engineers, and industry professionals—will share valuable stories and experiences, shedding light on the obstacles they encountered and conquered on their paths to success.

Fix the Mix: Voices Behind the Board

Our Summit kicks off with an inspirational keynote conversation hosted by GRAMMY award-winning mastering engineer and We Are Moving The Needle founder Emily Lazar. This group of premier producers and engineers will dive into the essence of their craft and discuss everything from their favorite plugins to the snacks that keep them going on late nights in the studio. These experts will share stories and advice on refining your skills, building your brand, and fostering meaningful collaborations. Audience is invited to submit your questions at registration — ask a question and come get inspired! 

Break + EQUIP Giveaway

Ever had a question that you just weren’t sure how to ask? Building a career as a woman or non-binary creator isn’t always easy—our communities keep us going and growing. These small group mentorship sessions will provide space for honest conversations and network-building. Our We Are Moving The Needle mentors will share insights from their career journeys and speak candidly on the obstacles they’ve faced and the successes they’ve made along the way. These mentorship roundtables are limited to 10 students per roundtable, so sign up quickly!

 
 
 
 

The inside scoop: advance your career behind the board

What’s next? As we close out the day’s programming, this panel looks to the future with guidance and tips for the next phase of your career development. This trio of powerhouse managers will share insights on growing your career as a producer and engineer from A&R techniques for attracting work, to maximizing your visibility as you grow credits, to deciding when is the right time to find a manager and how to attract one.
